Upcoming Wayne Public Library Events

WAYNE – As the month of February moves past the halfway point, the Wayne Public Library will have a busy week planned full of activities for the youth and adults.

According to a release from the Wayne Public Library, they’ll be hosting an ‘Anti-Valentine’s Day Party’ from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 14.

Teens in 7-12th grade will be able to take part in activities that will include chocolate tasting, chocolate sculpting, heart-breaker lists and more.

Also, this week will feature a special guest of Daniel Van Deest during an author reading and book signing in the back of the library. The event will take place on Tuesday, February 15 from 7 – 7:45 p.m. Van Deest will be reading from his murder-mystery thrillers that takes readers on a journey through Sioux Falls with Detective Patricia “Tish” Lindstrom. Toddler Time continues each Wednesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. Miss Kim will provide stories, music, dancing, busy bags and more. Attendees will be able to meet other parents and children in the area while learning about the various services and reading programs the library offers.

The Needle Night group continues to meet each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy conversation and good company while working on your personal needlework projects. All kinds of decorative sewing and textile arts handcrafts are welcome.

This month’s book is ‘All the Ugly and Wonderful Things’ by Bryn Greenwood. The Book Club group will meet on Tuesday, February 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the library conference room. A beautiful and provocative love story between two unlikely people and the hard-won relationship that elevates them above the Midwestern meth lab backdrop of their lives. As the daughter of a drug dealer, Wavy knows not to trust people, not even her own parents. It’s safer to keep her mouth shut and stay out of sight.

Later this month, a second ‘After School Coloring’ event will take place from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Relax and get creative after a busy school week. Adults will be on hand for conversation. Coloring pages, art utensils of all kinds and a light snack will be provided.

Again, mini art exhibition kits are available for pick-up at the Wayne Public Library circulation desk. These kits are open to all ages. Create art pieces and return them to the library by March 1st to have your work on display. Supplies are limited, so first come, first serve.

The 2022 Adult Year Long American Road Trip Challenge is live. Adults can take a reading road trip with the Wayne Public Library across the United States and beyond. Earn prize tickets by reading books either set in, about or by an author from each of our 50 states. Log your reading through the Beanstack app or on the paper booklet located at the library. Wayne Public Library regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday’s from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday’s from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and between 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday’s.
