WAYNE – With a couple save the date events approaching and changes to this year’s Christmas on Main/Parade of Lights event, November is set to be a busy month in Wayne.
Over the next month, the office of Wayne Area Economic Development will be hosting a handful of events.
A save the date has been set for Tuesday, November 10 at 5:30 p.m. from the Wayne Country Club. Luke Virgil is the Executive Director with WAED and said this will be a follow-up meeting that was held on October 13 pertaining to Retail, Tourism and Hospitality industries.
“Some of the big themes that came out of the first meeting being inclusive for all business across the community,” said Virgil. “We’re trying to get the Revitalize Wayne Committee going again, content at those meetings is really important to the group that we had that night (Oct. 13), being sure we’re on the same page as far as promotions and marketing and what the marketing committee within WAED is doing.”
The group also discussed communicating events that happen in the community or having a universal calendar of events for the community.
Another save the date will be held sometime November during a ‘Date Night’ as staff is looking to finalize some further details.
Also, Christmas on Main/Parade of Lights is scheduled for Thursday, November 19. An official announcement will be released soon detailing some changes to this year’s event.
The Ag Seminar is approaching for December 4 as Virgil talked more about the event.
“Traditionally we host it at the Wayne Fire Hall but this year we’ve moved it to the City Auditorium so that we can space people out a little bit better,” Virgil added. “We’ve got three speakers and then the Wayne FFA is going to be a demo.”
There are three college students with the 12 individuals from businesses and organizations from the community for Leadership Wayne as the group continues to meet once a month.
