Two-Day Plains Writers Series Scheduled For Wayne State Campus, Lucky 13 Fiction Slam To Be Held Downtown

WAYNE – Two days of poetry to be highlighted during the Plains Writers Series Spring edition this Wednesday and Thursday, April 25-26.

Hosted by the Wayne State College Language and Literature Department, the School of Arts and Humanities and the WSC Press the two-day event will be held on campus before the Lucky 13 Fiction Slam moves downtown.

The Plains Writers Series is hosted several times a year looking to bring attention to the prose and poetry of local Great Plains writers through readings and interacting with area audiences.

According to a press release from WSC, this two-day event will highlight the writer Josip Novakovich. A craft lecture on developing stories will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25 with the author reading beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 26. Both events will be in the lounge on the second floor of the Humanities building at Wayne State College.

After the author reading concludes Thursday, the Lucky 13 Fiction Slam will take place at the Max Bar & Grill at 7 p.m.  Registration and prelims will begin at 5 p.m. If anyone would like to participate in the slam they will need two original short stories and $5 for registration at the door.

All events are free and open to the public.
