WAYNE – This past weekend the Wayne Police Department was dispatched to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of 8th and Lincoln Street.

Officers were assisted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Providence Medical Center and the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday at approximately 7:20 p.m.

In a release issued by the Wayne Police Department Wednesday, officers found that two pickup trucks had collided in the intersection. A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 22-year-old Houston Huss of Wayne, was southbound on Lincoln Street, entered the intersection colliding with a 2002 Ford F150, driven by 21-year-old Dusten Reed, of Lenox Iowa, that was eastbound on 8th Street.

The collision caused the Ford pickup to strike the curb, leave the roadway and roll onto the terrace upside down on a fire hydrant before coming to rest. Both drivers and the three other passengers in the Silverado refused medical transport from the scene.

After further investigation, both Huss and Reed were arrested on suspicion of Driving while Intoxicated and transported to jail.
