Treasurer And City Council Ward 1 Local Candidates Invited To Forum; TIF 101 Event To Follow

WAYNE – Two local contested races for the May Primary will be featured in a candidate forum followed by TIF 101.

From the Wayne Senior Center on Tuesday, April 26, the local candidate forum will start at 5:30 p.m. and is being hosted by the Wayne Area Economic Development Government Affairs Committee and Wayne County Farm Bureau.

The Wayne Senior Center is located at 410 Pearl Street.

Candidates from the two contested races for the May 10 Primary have been invited. They include Wayne County Treasurer Republicans Tammy Paustian (incumbent) and new filer Lisa Lindsay along with City Council Ward 1 new filers Karen Granberg; Clayton W. Bratcher and Chad Sebade.

A moderator and timer will help direct the flow of the 2022 Local Candidate Forum. The moderator will present each contested office and its corresponding candidates. Each candidate will be allowed a five minute self-introduction.

Following introductions and time permitting, questions from the audience will be taken. Questions must be submitted to the moderator via note cards, which will be available to the audience. No questions will be taken after 6:15 p.m.

Following the local candidate forum, the City of Wayne and Wayne Community Redevelopment Authority (CRA) will be hosting “TIF 101: Understanding Tax Increment Financing featuring Mike Bacon at 7 p.m. in the Senior Center.

This event will serve as a follow-up to the Housing Summit hosted by WAED in February.

Mr. Bacon is an attorney with Bacon, Vinton & Venteicher, LLC in Gothenburg, Nebraska and serves as the TIF Attorney for the City of Wayne and the Wayne CRA. He maintains a statewide practice in TIF and has represented CRAs, economic development groups and real estate developers on more than 275 TIF projects across the state of Nebraska.
