WAYNE – From Friday, November 20, through Saturday, December 19, the Wayne Salvation Army Unit will be conducting its annual Bell Ringing Campaign. This is the primary fundraiser for Wayne Salvation Army. Ninety percent of the funds are utilized for local families and individuals.

The Wayne Salvation Army organized a back-to-school initiative in August. That program allowed more than 100 local elementary children to receive school supplies. Wayne Salvation Army thanks the community for its support.

There will be full-sized kettles and bell ringers at Pac-N-Save and Quality Foods in Wayne. Small counter kettles will be located at numerous local businesses.

Bell ringers are still needed. They should be dressed warm and warm hearted. These volunteers should maintain social distancing measures. Those interested in this volunteering opportunity should call Pastor James Seal at Calvary Bible Church at 402-375-4946. Look for the red kettles while shopping this holiday season.

Additionally, The Wayne Area Association of Congregations and Ministers has cancelled its Thanksgiving service and soup supper. This event was scheduled for November 22, or the Sunday before Thanksgiving. This, like other cancellations, is due to COVID-19. Continually check local church websites for the latest on Thanksgiving services. Grace Lutheran Church has announced they will be hosting a Thanksgiving Eve service at 6:15 p.m. That is Wednesday, November 25, and the service will be live streamed.
