WAYNE – A ribbon cutting is scheduled to open the month of November for Friday morning Chamber Coffee put on by Wayne Area Economic Development.
Located at 221 Main Street, the Flower Cellar has been open since April with a new look on the inside. Join the store as they host Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 2.
Greta Smith is the owner of the store and said a group got together for a brainstorming event to rename the business what was previously called The Diamond Center, Flowers & Wine.
“It is puny, because we do also sell flowers,” said Smith. “But, eventually we’ll also have our wine back here. So, it’ll be like a wine-cellar.”
The Flower Cellar is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. while being open from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday’s. Extended hours will also be added in December for Saturday’s as well as Sunday afternoons.
A college student and high school student along with family of Smith helps at the store.
For those who walk into The Flower Cellar, you’ll see a different look after the cases were sent to the Wayne County Fair, according to Smith.
“I wasn’t here that day, but they got everything out in just a couple of hours,” Smith added. “They brought one heck of a team, I guess and took it out. But, then it took us a few months to remodel and everything. We put in new flooring and painted and moved some things around.”
Smith would like to thank the community for being supportive of the store and mentioned that the months of November and December will feature several workshops.
“Just all kinds of stuff that a lot of people should be interested, and I hope they want to come,” Smith mentioned. “I know we’ll do some Christmas Tree decorating classes where we’ll give you some tips on how to make your tree beautiful.”
