WAYNE – Pack the family in the car this weekend and make plans to visit several Wayne businesses for ‘Fall Fun’ on Saturday, October 16.
After hosting the Pop-ups and Popcorn event earlier this summer, Retail Tourism & Hospitality through Wayne Area Economic Development met and wanted to host a fall event as the group came up with ‘The Fall Thing’.
The Fall Thing is being hosted by 32 participating Wayne businesses ranging from downtown to around town, according to Marketing, Events and Tourism Coordinator at WAED, Abby Schademann.
“So, this idea came about of just let’s get some business together and I’ll do something and we’ll finish up the day with a free movie,” said Schademann.
Participating businesses will offer trick-or-treating, games and activities along with in-store specials again from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. this Saturday.
Then at 2 p.m. Johnny’s Pest Control will sponsor a free movie at the Majestic Theatre
“The free movie is Casper this year,” said Schademann. “So, we are encouraging everybody of all ages to come on out this Saturday and have some Fall Fun.”
Schademann is also encouraging community members to prepare for Halloween.
“Break their outfits out,” said Schademann. “Or if they weren’t able to do much last year with the pandemic, re-wear your 2020 costumes and just have a good ole time and be sure to support all of our local business; just have a fun fall time.”

Next up for WAED will be Christmas in Wayne which will feature open houses and the lighted parade during the evening of Thursday, November 18.
