Thanksgiving November 28, Butterball Experts Are Reminding you To Thaw Your Turkey Thursday

WAYNE – As Thanksgiving approaches on Thursday, November 28 and questions are brought forward about how to prepare your Thanksgiving meal, experts with Butterball, LCC are ready to answer those questions.

Barbara Robinson is in her 12th year of being a supervisor at the Butterball Turkey Talk Hotline. Robinson said her tenure is still on the newer end.

“Many of our talk-line experts have been here 30-some years,” said Robinson. “But I enjoy it very much and we’re actual very busy.”

The Butterball Turkey Talk Hotline offers professional-trained and experts in all things turkey as they’ve been answering turkey-related questions each holiday season for the past 35 years.

For families preparing their Thanksgiving meal and are wondering what size of a whole turkey to get, they’ll need to account for about 1.5 pounds per person (8 people = 12lb turkey or ¾ lb per person for bone-in breast).

Butterball experts are reminding those preparing their turkey to take it out of the freezer Thursday, November 21.

“We recommend that everyone bring their turkey out of the freezer,” Robinson added. “Allow it to be in the coldest part of your refrigerator at the back so that it will thaw properly.”

Once the turkey is completely thawed, it can remain in the refrigerator for four full days. Frozen turkey which has been kept in the freezer the entire time should be good for up to two full years.

If you have a turkey questions, call the Turkey Talk-Line at 1-800-288-8372. Questions can also be submitted via text (1-844-877-3456) or email.
