WAYNE – For the fifth consecutive year Wayne Area Economic Development and Wayne Community Schools Foundation will team up for their annual Taste of Victory Tailgate.
During week three of the Wayne High football season, the Blue Devils will host Arlington on Friday, September 7. Fans are invited to the game where the Fifth annual Taste of Victory Tailgate event will last form 5:45 p.m. until kick off (7 p.m.).
All home WHS football games are held at Bob Cunningham Field on the campus of Wayne State College. It’ll also be Parents Night for Wayne football. The tailgate is open to the public with paid admission to the game.
The main rule is to have fun raising money for the Wayne Community Schools Foundation. The public will still vote for the winner, but this year with tickets, as free will donations will be accepted with all money raised going towards the WCS Foundation. The chef with the most tickets will receive a $50 Chamber Bucks prize.
In past years, as many as 225 fans sampled their way to dessert.
Last year’s winning chefs were Kevin and Teri Koenig with help from Corby and Amy Schweers for their Smoked Mac ‘N’ Cheese. A check worth $1,326 was presented to the Wayne Community Schools Foundation last fall from the Taste of Victory Tailgate.
The WCS Foundation assists with set up for the tent and tables as well as clean up.
