LINCOLN – Memorial Day weekend marked the unofficial start to the summer travel season as troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol will be on the road working day and night to keep Nebraska roads safe.

According to a release from the NSP, troopers will continue to work diligently as they have throughout the pandemic with traffic expecting to see an increase during the summer months and the loosening of some travel restrictions. Although most Americans have seen changes to their travel plans, those who hit the road need to be reminded that it’s important to drive safely whether the trip is across the country or just across town.

Throughout the “100 Days of Summer” campaign, troopers across the state will be conducting traffic enforcement initiatives and providing education on safe driving practices. The campaign will last from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.

The Nebraska State Patrol will provide updates on specific initiatives as they occur throughout the summer. The public can also follow NSP on social media at Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for information on those efforts and other summer travel information.
