WAYNE – An annual competition among a locally-owned bank in Wayne continues to raise funds for the local food pantry.

According to a release from State Nebraska Bank & Trust, the Fifth annual SNB Soup Cook Off was held last week.

State Nebraska Bank & Trust employees raised nearly $400 to be donated to the Wayne Food Pantry.

Employees made different kinds of soup for lunch each day and then voted on the best tasting ones after making a donation. Homemade soups included shrimp and corn chowder, Philly cheesesteak, butternut squash and more.  Kirby Hall’s creamy chicken stew received the most votes, which earned her the Golden Ladle from the previous winner, Conni Davis.

Employees also brought in food items and toiletries to help stock the pantry’s shelves this holiday season. Volunteer Rita McLean received the funds on behalf of the Wayne Food Pantry.
