State Maintenance Forces Applying Armor Coating

WALTHILL/CREIGHTON – A pair of northeast Nebraska communities have either began or are planning to start maintenance work this week.

According to a release from the Nebraska Department of Transportation, work already started, weather permitting, in Walthill while work will begin south of Creighton on July 17.

State maintenance officials have started armor coating from Lyons to Walthill on US-77. Armor coating is an application of an asphalt binder to a roadway surface followed by an aggregate.

One-lane traffic will occur with the use of a pilot car and flaggers and the speed limit will be reduced. Motorists should expect to see delays and are reminded to drive cautiously in and near highway work zones.

The work is anticipated to take about eight days.

An application of armor coating will also be performed on N-13 beginning at the N-13/US-20 junction, north of the N-13/N-59 junction, south of Creighton.

Traffic will be maintained with intermittent lane closures with the use of flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should expect to see delays and are reminded to drive cautiously in and near construction zones.

The work is anticipated to take three days.
