Social INTERN-actions Available For All

WAYNE – A collection of networking events will be made available where interns can meet friends and build a community along with fostering connections to employment opportunities in Wayne.

According to a release from Luke Virgil, Executive Director with Wayne Area Economic Development, WAED recognizes that many area businesses host interns throughout the summer and the group would like to help get and keep interns connected with the Wayne community this summer.

A new program called, “Social INTERN-actions’ will begin in late May and end in early August.

Any business or organization that is planning to host interns, regardless of their school affiliation, are being requested to share the intern’s contact information with WAED while encouraging your interns to attend these gatherings.

May will feature a kickoff event.

There’ll be a Wayne scavenger hunt in June; outdoor fun in July along with a night out to wrap up in August.

There is no cost for the intern to participate and the intent from WAED is that your business will also benefit from the program by enhancing your intern’s experience. This will allow the interns to learn their way around the business community of Wayne and provide a pathway for peer-to-peer learning.

If your business is interested in sponsoring any of these events throughout the summer, contact the Wayne Area Economic Development office at 402-375-2240 or email info@wayneworks.org for more information. A sign up deadline is being requested by Tuesday, May 17.
