WAYNE – Councilmembers will continue to meet at the Community Room of the Wayne Community Activity Center as their first regularly scheduled meeting of 2021 is this evening.
The meeting will be called to order at 5:30 p.m. as a public hearing is scheduled early on to consider the Planning Commission’s recommendation in regard to amending the future Land Use Map of the Comprehensive Plan.
Council will then look to the amend the Future Land Use Map for the City of Wayne followed by a second public hearing pertaining to rezoning a pair of properties from R-3 (residential) to B-3 (neighborhood commercial). The applicant is looking to tear down an old rusty building and put up a new storage facility for the addresses of 212 Windom Street, 313 East 3rd Street and 321 East 3rd Street.
A third public hearing will be for a preliminary plat for “Beckman Farm Subdivision” as the applicant of Mann Acres, LLC is wising to sell the acreage which is smaller than the current zoning will allow. The final public hearing is in regards to land acquisition from the Wayne Community Redevelopment Authority.
The Initial Community-Wide Technology Over-Built Agreement between the City of Wayne and Allo Communications, LLC is seeking approval while a parking ordinance will be brought forward to council with some new houses being built in the Vintage Hill 3rd Addition.
Council will then re-evaluate LB840 discussion and action to suspend the payment due dates for City of Wayne LB840 Loans and Special Assessments without penalty and interest due to COVID-19. This was approved on April 7, 2020 and scheduled through February 28, 2021. Luke Virgil, Executive Director with Wayne Area Economic Development will be present to speak on behalf of the business community.
The meeting will also end by reviewing the City of Wayne’s employee personal manual, an update from the police department on a federal lawsuit matter and city attorney performance review/evaluation.
