LINCOLN – On September 1, Nebraska Game and Parks begins an initiative called the “Take ‘em Hunting” challenge. This program is sponsored by AKRS Equipment Solutions, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, and the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Experienced hunters are encouraged to take someone new to hunting along with them for the 2020 – 2021 hunting seasons. Then, upload a photo from the hunting trip to the Game and Parks website to be entered for a chance to win prizes. This year’s top prize is a camo John Deere 590 XUV crossover utility vehicle. This is from AKRS and it is valued at $15, 300. There are numerous other prizes available.

There were 2,175 mentors that participated last year. That brought nearly 1,580 first-time hunters into the field.

Hunting is crucial for future conservation of natural resources. Hunting permit revenue supports habitat conservation, hunting access, wildlife research, and much more. Firearm taxes generates $1 billion in conversation revenue per year.

Additionally, hunting is a great way to experience nature and make memories. This program offers incentives to take someone new out for a hunt. There are special youth sessions that are especially great for taking young hunters out.

Prizes will be awarded throughout the challenge period from September 1, 2020 until May 31, 2021. The grand prize will be announced in June of 2021. Fore more information, visit OutdoorNebraska.org/TakeEmHunting.
