Saturday Sights & Sounds From Wayne Chicken Show

 

WAYNE – Onto the 40th. The 2019 Wayne Chicken Show capped off their 39th annual event over the weekend and with some closing information still needed, the start for next year begins right away.

Saturday events started downtown and at Bressler park with the morning parade followed by afternoon activities at Bressler Park.

This year’s parade winners were Providence Medical Center for Best Themed float “Chickens Around the World”; “Daft Cluck” (Godfather’s) won the Best Overall award while the Best Children’s float went to Knights of Columbus.

Following afternoon entertainment from Ted and Alice Miller the chicken show activities took off.

Youth searched for quarters during chicken scratch for prizes, chickens were flying, best chicken legs contest was held along with little chick cement auction, national cluck-off, hard boiled egg eating contest, rubber chicken chuck, egg toss then egg drop/catch.

Event winners will be posted once all information has been calculated by the Wayne Area Economic Development office.

Sunday closed out with the Crowing Motors Car show along 2nd Street and the Last Cluck Poker run took off at 1 p.m.

The 2020 Wayne Chicken Show will mark 40 years and clucking as preparations are underway for the second Saturday in July.
