NORFOLK – Numbers are in following three days where the Nebraska State Patrol put in overtime during an Independence Day Enforcement.
According to a release from NSP, Troop B in Norfolk conducted a special enforcement over the July 4th holiday weekend in northeast Nebraska.
The special enforcement included a vehicle check and high visibility patrols. It led to 708 total violation contacts including two arrests for Driving While Intoxicated, seven alcohol violations, 416 speeding, one fugitive from justice and seven drug violations.
A grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS) helped pay for the special enforcement effort. Any motorists in need of assistance can dial *55 from a cell phone to reach the NSP Highway Helpline.
Also, 11 recruits have begun the journey to become State Troopers as the Nebraska State Patrol has started the 61st Basic Recruit Camp.
