WAYNE – A northeast Nebraska pharmacy has opened their drive-thru.
Providence Community Pharmacy is located at 803 Providence Road, Suite 101 and put the final touches on their drive-thru on Wednesday, December 16.
Pharmacy manager, Becky Barner said things have been going well.
“Of course, the foot traffic is a little bit less than we would like to see with the COVID,” said Barner. “But we have been doing a fair number of curbside deliveries and those have been going well and I think that’s a service that patients have appreciated in this time.”
Patients who need items that are too large to pass through the drive-thru can still take advantage of the curbside pick-up.
The signs for the drive-thru were put up late in the afternoon as the first drive-thru customer came through later that evening before being steady throughout the day Thursday.
“We know that for both safety and for convenience it’s very important to our patients to be able to utilize the drive-thru,” Barner added. “So, we wanted to be able to provide that extra step of convenience and we’re glad to be able to do that.”
Dirt work began for the drive-thru in May before the construction started in August as there were some delays due to material being back-ordered.
For those coming into the pharmacy, there is a pre-screening process.
“We do take temperatures when people come in and screen them with some COVID questions,” Barner mentioned. “Just to make sure that they haven’t been exposed and are coming into the pharmacy to try and keep it safe for our staff and for the other patients as well.”
Three pharmacists and five pharmacy technicians make up Providence Community Pharmacy.
The pharmacy and drive-thru is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. along with being open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday’s. Contact Providence Community Pharmacy at 402-375-8862 or visit providencecommunitypharmacy.com for more information.
