WAYNE – Good weather looks like it will provide a welcome backdrop for Thursday’s inaugural Pop-Ups and Popcorn event in Wayne.
The first community-wide event of the summer will be held on Thursday, June 3 in the Wayne ACE parking lot. The Pop-Up Market is scheduled from 4 until 9 p.m. featuring a variety of vendors to shop.
The pop-up shops will be supplemented with a variety of food vendors on site and in the neighborhood.
Conclusion of the event will be a free movie at 9 p.m. (or sunset) featuring ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ and concessions sponsored by Majestic Theatre. In addition to concessions being provided by the Majestic Theatre, food trucks will also be on site.
No vehicles will be allowed in the ACE parking lot, according to Wayne Area Economic Development Marketing, Events and Tourism Coordinator Abby Schademann.
“Now this is an outdoor movie, not a drive-in movie,” said Schademann. “So, be sure to come prepared with your bag chairs, your beach towels. If anybody has like the inflatable furniture, bring that and get creative.”
Again, there is no charge for Pop-Up Vendors as set up is being coordinated by W.W. Galore. Assistant Director with WAED, Irene Fletcher Mock added there is even an incentive for the youth.
“We sent some flyers home with the school-aged kids that if they bring their flyer in there may be a surprise for them as well,” Mock added. “So, just follow up with checking out those backpacks; see what came home from school.
