PONCA – A trio of events will take place at Ponca State Park this weekend.

According to a release, open Saturday morning with ‘Gobblers Galore’ between 10 – 10:45 a.m.

Participants will learn about turkey life, history, habitat, coloration and other turkey trivia. Plan on meeting in front of the Resource and Education Center for this free event.

Moving into Saturday afternoon, learn how to shoot like Katniss or Robin Hood during an introductory course on archery from 1 – 3 p.m. All equipment is provided and youth must be five years of age or older with adult supervision. Meet and pay at the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex as cost is $1 per six arrows.

Throughout the day, make plans to join in on the fun of the ‘Bloodroot Trail Gnome Hunt’. Explore this family friendly trail and search for the 10 gnomes hidden amongst the trees. This trail is approximately one mile and rated easy. Officials ask that participants leave the gnomes on the trail for others to enjoy.

Other events include Bingos/Scavenger Hunts/Passports; Search for Sasquatch; Ponca Packs; Old Oak Trail Self-guided Hike, Fishing Tackle Loaner Program and Beginner Mountain Bike Trail (located behind campsite G8).
