Ponca State Park Set To Host 7th Annual Winterfest

PONCA – Ponca State Park has a fun slate of activities scheduled for Saturday, December 29 as they host the 7th annual Winterfest.

The day starts with crafts at the Resource and Education from 9-11 a.m. This free event is fun for all ages.

From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. lunch will be served. Menu items include chili soup, hot dogs, chip, and a drink. Price is $6 for adults and $4 for kids 12 and under.

At 11:15 a.m. there will be a Trick Pony Show at the Resource and Education Center.

At noon check out the National Championship Fruitcake Fling. During this event participants throw wildlife friendly fruitcakes and compete for distance. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories for the longest throw. To join in on this event, meet outside the Resource and Education Center.

The Yule Log Quest will begin at 2 p.m. During this race participants will compete in five family friendly challenges as teams all try to find the Yule Log. Prizes will be awarded to the Champion Yule Log Team and the team with the most creative name. Meet in front of the Resource and Education Center. Pre-register your team of 3-5 members by calling 402-755-2284. This free activity is limited to 20 teams.

Finally, the day will wind down with lighted hayrack rides from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Enjoy the frosty chill of a winter evening on a hayrack that will travel from the Resource and Education Center to the Tri-State Overlook and back. Pre-register for this free ride at the Resource and Education Center.
