HOSKINS – Kick off 2021 with a healthy exercise, hiking! Ponca State Park has set up two of its most popular trails for the 1st Day Hike event from January 1 – 3, 2021. The Old Oak Trail and the Tri-state Overlook Trail are ready for self-guided tours.

The Old Oak Trail has points-of-interest marked along the trail. This hike begins at the Old Oak Tree or West Shelter. There is a brochure at the trial head.

The Tri-state Overlook Trail has 10 gnomes hidden along the path. Start this hike at the East Shelter or the Overlook.

Here are some tips for enjoyable hiking. Dress for the weather, bring water, keep pets on a leash, and throw away trash. The park asks that people hike with people from your household and stay six feet away from other groups.

A state park vehicle permit is required. For more information, contact the park at 402-755-2284.
