Ponca State Park Arranged “Birds & Breakfast” Valentine’s Package, Snow Building Contest Running Until March 19

PONCA – Ponca State Park is organizing a romantic “Birds & Breakfast” getaway package. This is valid for the Valentine’s Day weekend, February 12 – 13, 2021. A 30 percent discount on lodging is included. Other amenities include a free bottle of wine or cider, a breakfast basket, and an opportunity to participate in the “Great Backyard Bird Count.”

The bird count event will be independently done on Saturday, February 13. This gives scientists a snapshot of bird populations before spring migration.

In other events this weekend, the park will be accepting entries for its annual “Snow-Creation Building Contest.” Make a snow sculpture for a chance to win a free night’s stay in a 4-bedroom mini lodge.

Submit photos by email to lynn.mellick@nebraska.gov, with a name and mailing address. There will be prizes for first through third place. Submissions are accepting until March 19 because winners are announced on March 20.
