Chicken Show Poker Run Contributes To Wayne Area Legacy Fund

WAYNE – Just over two weeks after the 2019 Wayne Chicken Show concluded with the Last Cluck Poker Run, a portion of funds raised from the event were again donated.

Members from the Wayne Area Legacy Fund and the Wayne Chicken Show Committee gathered Monday evening as a $700 check was presented to the fund. The Wayne Area Legacy Fund is dedicated to building an endowment that will grow and provide funding for generations to come.

The annual Last Cluck Poker Run drew approximately 50 participants on Sunday, July 14. Each year the Chicken Show committee selects a group or organization that will benefit from the proceeds.

Poker Run committee members include Mick Kemp, Scott Brummond, Kirk and Ardie Sommerfeld, Curt and Coleen Jeffries, Jon and McKenzie Surber along with Dwight and Irene Mock.

The Poker Run committee would like to thank Wayne Area Economic Development, KTCH/KCTY, Quality Foods, Pac N Save & The White Dog Pub for donating either cash, food or prizes for the participants.

Also, thanks goes out to the many area businesses who donated door prizes for either the poker run or car show; to Pac N Save and Brian Kemp for serving food during the Car Show, State Nebraska Bank & Trust for the use of power and “shade”; the downtown businesses that were open during the car show as well as to the committee for all they do making food, gathering prizes, organizing and running the event and especially to everyone who participated making it a safe and fun afternoon.
