PMC Employees, Local First Responders Receive First Round Of COVID Vaccination

WAYNE – As COVID-19 vaccine doses continue to be released, healthcare workers are at the top of the list to receive their first round of shots and nearly 100 vaccinations were issued to Providence Medical Center employees last week.

According to a release from PMC, the first vaccination was given on Monday, December 21 at 3:30 p.m. Then by 5:15 p.m., 40 employees had been vaccinated.

Through Tuesday, December 29 that number has risen to 140 people which included over 24 local emergency medical services and fire officials. More EMS/Fire individuals will be vaccinated throughout today and next week.

Providence Medical Center initially received 200 (Moderna) doses for staff as public health has contributed additional vaccines for PMC to vaccinate local EMS, Fire, First responders and Law enforcement.

There have been a few reactions. Those who have had a reaction are experiencing injection site soreness, some fatigue, chills and achiness that are effectively treated with over-the-counter products.

Marci Chinn (Environmental Services Specialist) and Erica Diediker (Infection Control Coordinator) were among the first to receive their vaccination on 12/21.
