PONCA – Ponca State Park kicked off another week of family fun activities for all.

Moving into Tuesday, an introduction to pellet guns will last from 9 until 11 a.m. All equipment will be provided as participants must be eight years old or older. Cost per four clips is $1.

Join a naturalist at 1 p.m. Tuesday for ‘Wilderness Canvas Painting’. Pre-register at the Resource and Education Center as cost is $3 per person. Meet at the Tri-State Overlook and the painting event is limited to 25 people.

Closing out the day will be a pudgie pie dessert. Camping treats always are a part of a great camping trip. Make yourself a delectable snack while having some fun sharing camping stories around a campfire. Pre-register at the Resource and Education Center as cost is $1 per treat and limited to 25 people.

Mid-week events will open with archery and muzzleloader introductory courses from 9 – 11 a.m. Wednesday. Archery participants must be five years and up while muzzleloading is for 12 and up. Cost per six arrows is $1 while for two shots in muzzleloading is $1.

Then, do you ever wonder what animals eat or have you met the animals of Ponca State Park? Both can be achieved by joining a naturalist feeding the education animals including snakes. The event is limited to the first 20 people who pre-register at the Resource and Education Center.

Bluebirds were once a species under great threat and concern, but with the help of the public these birds have bounced back and become a popular hobby. A ‘Bluebird Box Tour’ is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday where the 60 bluebird boxes which are monitored by park officials will be viewed. A passenger van will be available for nine people as others are welcome to follow in their own vehicles. Pre-register for this free event at the Resource and Education Center.
