Pheasants Forever Group Previews Near Sold-Out Banquet

WAYNE – With community members set to attend an annual banquet Friday night, a weekly chamber event opened the day.

From the Beaumont Event & Concert Hall Friday morning Chamber Coffee was held previewing the evening.

Jim Modrell is in his ninth year as president of Logan Creek Pheasants Forever Chapter. Modrell said the annual banquet is the biggest fundraiser of the year which assists with the Fifth Grade Pollinator Project.

“(We) plant a half-acre of pollinators for the bees, butterflies, etc.,” said Modrell. “It’s just a learning experience for them to teach them the importance of the pollinators.”

Doors will open for the 29th annual Banquet at 5:30 p.m. Friday with a social featuring games to be played through 7 p.m. Following dinner, the auction will take place. A scholarship will also be awarded before more games will be held.

Eastern Regional Representative with Pheasants Forever, Jerry McDonald will be back to MC the banquet and Modrell would like to thank the auctioneers Randy and Mike.

Modrell and the Logan Creek Chapter appreciated all who made it possible to host at the City Auditorium in year’s past as they’re excited to move to the Beaumont as well.

“We we’re kind of capped out what we can do down there,” Modrell added. “That’s why last year we had about 220 people in there and we were tight. This year, we can really expand more and I think that’s why we’ve seen such an influx of people wanting to go this year.”

The 29th annual Banquet sold (275 tickets as of Friday morning) with a maximum of 285 meals planned for. Money raised will go back into habitat and youth education.
