Pender Community Hospital Receives 5-Star Rating

PENDER – The Pender Community Hospital was recently recognized nationally as a 5-Star Facility. The hospital was notified by the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services about the achievement. The rating is based off of seven different areas including; mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care, and efficient use of medical imaging.

Melissa Kelly is the CEO of Pender Community Hospital describes how this rating puts the local facility among the top in the nation.

“A 5-Star rating ranks us amongst hospitals of all sizes across the nation and getting and achieving that 5-Star rating really puts us in the top seven percent of hospitals across the nation.”

The recognition could not be achieved without a staff that is devoted to patient care.

“There isn’t any one department or any one person that makes this happen but it’s a combination of great providers, great staff, and support of our community as well as our hospital board to make this happen,” said Kelly.

Pender Community Hospital prides itself on providing a continuum of exceptional health care services in a healing environment.
