Park & Run Fundraiser, Cars-N-Carroll Taking Over Community Sunday

CARROLL – From a morning run fundraiser to checking out the hot rods, a northeast Nebraska community will be the place to visit this weekend.

According to a release, the Carroll ‘Park & Run’ 5k and kids fun run is slated for Sunday, September 26.

Prior to parking your car for the Cars-N-Carroll car show in downtown Carroll, you’re invited to come out to the ball field to run and support the Carroll park. Funds raised will help purchase new playground equipment.

The 5k will start at 7:30 a.m. followed by a kids fun run for ages 12 and under at 8:15 a.m. The kids fun run is approximately five blocks long as both races will begin and end at the Carroll ball field.

Prizes will be awarded to the first place male and female in both races plus drawings for more prizes later in the morning.

Moving into the afternoon, Sunday, September 26 will mark the Eighth annual Cars-N-Carroll Show & Shine.

Any make or model is welcome to join from noon until 4 p.m. as there is no entry fee and the event is free to the public.

The purpose of Cars-N-Carroll is to have an afternoon of family fun for all that share an appreciation for classic vehicles and their history. During their first year in 2014, over 100 entries were submitted to the Village of Carroll as the record came last year being 250 vehicles.
Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 150 registered where there will be a people’s choice vote, trophies and door prizes.

Register the day of the show from 9:30 a.m. until noon inside the City Auditorium or contact Jane at 402-369-1914 for further details.

A kids show and shine event will be held for those age 2 – 10 years old with registration at 11 a.m. A goodie bag will be given to the first 20 children with an entry. Contact Jess at 402-833-8252 for more information as the public will vote for their favorite and a trophy will be presented to the winner.

Entertainment will be provided by Highway Thirty-Three from 10 a.m. until noon; the Dave Merkel Show between noon and 3:30 p.m. and Magician Joe Cole from noon until 3:30 p.m. There will also be indoor and outdoor commercial and craft vendors on hand as well as food vendors along with classic vehicles.
