Over 100 Vehicles Excepted To Attend Sunday’s Fall Brawl, Derby Funds To Establish Trade-School Scholarship

WAYNE – If you missed out on a demolition derby over the summer or want to get a final taste of the action in 2021, then you’ll want to attend the 2021 Fall Brawl Demo Derby.

This inaugural event will be a ‘clean-up’ event for all vehicles and feature cars, foods, drinks and family fun.

Event organizer, Brent Sherman said each promotor from a derby has their own set of rules.

“So, the purpose of a clean up show is we will except anybody’s rules built in that class,” said Sherman. “So, you’re going to see people that you don’t normally see coming from further distances.”

Sherman also runs Two Mile Island Auto just west of Wayne.

D & D Motorsports and CS Promotions, LLC are the lead groups putting on this event.

The Clean Up Fall Brawl will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 26 from the Wayne County Fairgrounds. Check-in will last from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. as all other promoter rules are welcome.

Over $10,000 in prize money will be awarded from classes of limited weld, bonestock, 90’s and newer as well as mini vans. Money will also be given to a mad dog award in each class as well as the longest haul.

Over 100 cars are expected to participate with the furthest being 450 miles away  already pre-registered.

Funds from the Fall Brawl will establish a scholarship fund to aid students continuing their education through trade schools.

Sherman added most people involved in derby are a lot of your hands-on people and even if you’re not, you have to have some skills for after hour work on the derby car.

“Kind of had every skill you can imagine, trade skill in there,” Sherman added. “So, we figured a skilled trade scholarship is kind of what it would directly pertain to.”

To pre-register, cost is $50 per driver who’ll receive a free t-shirt while day of event registration is $60. Pit and general admission is $20 as there will also be door prizes. Kids age 10 and under will be $10.

“Just hope to see everybody there,” Sherman mentioned. “It looks like weather is going to be great. It’s had a ton of interest and I’m very excited for it to happen and see the outcome.”
