O’Neill power outage will last overnight

O’NEILL — Parts of O’Neill will be dark overnight after two dozen power poles were knocked down as a late season blizzard moves into north central Nebraska. According to NPPD spokesman Mark Becker, retail customers in O’Neill are without power as well as rural customers served by rural public power districts in the area.

NPPD reports that crews returned to shelter after the weather deteriorated citing safety issues. The utility says crews will begin working on the downed power lines at daybreak Saturday and the soonest power may be restored is 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Statewide, NPPD reports 3,000 retail customers are without power as the blizzard moves across Nebraska.
