Lincoln Children’s Zoo opens Friday

LINCOLN, NE (News Channel Nebraska) – The familiar, 55-year-old Lincoln Children’s Zoo will open its gates Friday, two weeks later than expected.

The earlier planned opening was delayed by the lingering snow and cold.

But this year’s hottest attractions — tigers, giraffes, spider monkeys and interactive activity areas won’t be ready for two more months.

The zoo’s president and CEO John Chapo didn’t yet have a precise date to reveal what workers have been up to for the past two years.

A new entrance will open for the first time, as well as a new gift shop.

The zoo will be open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM.
