Northeast Nebraska Veterans Receive New Options for Eye Care

NORFOLK – Northeast Nebraska veterans have someone looking out for their eyes.

Officials with the Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System announced on Friday that veterans at Norfolk’s VA clinic are now able to receive a new eye exam screening technology called TECS.

With TECS, VA officials say technicians are able to quickly gather information about their patient’s eyes, and pass it along to a VA eye care provider. The idea, VA officials say, is to dedicate in-person resources and time to veterans and ultimately prevent blindness.

The VA is urging any veterans to make eye appointments as soon as they can.
