Northeast Nebraska Students, Chapters Recognized At State FCCLA Conference

WAYNE – Several area students were recognized for their achievements at the 71st annual Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference according to a press release from the Nebraska Department of Education.

April 8-10th, over 1,250 students attended FCCLA’s state conference at the Pinnacle Bank Arena. There, 549 of those students competed in competitive STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events. STAR winners and runners up qualify to attend the National FCCLA Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in June. Several area students qualified, and school chapters were recognized at the conference.

Lauren Pinkelman, of Bloomfield, was named secretary of the 2018-2019 Nebraska State Career Leader Team. Jaiden Johnson, also of Bloomfield, was named secretary of the State Community Leader Team. Michelle Galles, Wakefield FCCLA advisor, received the Advisor Committed To Excellence (ACE) Award.

Battle Creek and Plainview FCCLA chapters were recognized with the Red and White Affiliation Award. Plainview’s chapter was recognized as a Gold Chapter, while Battle Creek, Wakefield and West Point-Beemer Junior and Senior High received Silver Chapter awards.

State Runner-Up – Colton Gieselman, Bloomfield, Silver

Nebraska Family Challenges & Issues:

State Runner-Up – Tara Beckmann, Blake Byerly, and Andrew Hochsteine, Bloomfield, Gold

Nebraska Health and Wellness JR:

State Runner-Up – Alexus Sindelar, Pierce, Silver

Nebraska Parliamentary Procedure:

State Champion – Alexis Schnoor, Pierce, Bronze

Recycle and Redesign SR

State Runner-Up – Kim Hines, Creighton, Gold
