NNPHD Surpasses 50 COVID-19 Positive Cases, 511 Tests

WAYNE – The Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department confirmed eight more positive cases of COVID-19.

According to a release from NNPHD, six residents in Thurston county as well as one each in Dixon and Wayne counties tested positive Wednesday.

As of Wednesday evening, there have been 511 COVID-19 tests reported for people living in the NNPHD Health District of Cedar, Dixon, Thurston and Wayne counties. The results of these tests include 56 positive cases (Cedar – 6, Dixon – 24, Thurston – 22 and Wayne county – 4), 411 negatives and 44 tests currently pending results. Wednesday’s patients include five females and three males ranging in their 20’s, 40’s and 60’s.

As far as any cases, when NNPHD releases someone from isolation the health department no longer follows them to see how they are doing as the report from the health department does not include number of hospitalizations or recoveries.

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the state to date is 107, according to the DHHS data dashboard. The state case total, as of 5:45 p.m. Central Daylight Time Wednesday is 9,075.
