NNPHD Reports Eight More COVID-19 Positive Cases Thursday

WAYNE – For the second straight day, the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department Health District confirmed eight COVID-19 positive cases.

According to a release from NNPHD, Thursday’s patients broken down were six from Thurston county and one each from Dixon and Wayne counties including five females and three males. Residents range from in their teens to 60s.

As of Thursday evening, there have been 574 COVID-19 tests reported for people living in the NNPHD Health District of Cedar, Dixon, Thurston and Wayne counties. The results of these tests include 64 positive cases (Cedar – 6, Dixon – 25, Thurston – 28 and Wayne County – 5), 474 negatives and 36 tests currently pending results.

As far as any cases, when NNPHD releases someone from isolation the health department no longer follows them to see how they are doing as the report from the health department does not include number of hospitalizations or recoveries.

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the state increased by six to 113, according to the DHHS data dashboard. The state case total, as of 5:45 p.m. Central Daylight Time Thursday, was 9,416.

Also, DHHS will now provide weekly updates on the state’s COVID-19 case totals, deaths and other developments related to the COVID-19 response on Fridays starting May 15. This will replace the evening news releases.
