Newly Elected Mayor, Commissioners To Be Sworn Into Office Tuesday

WAYNE – As new positions are filled by incumbents or new filers in December and January, the Wayne City Council will re-welcome and welcome in their newly elected office.

From the council chambers of the City Hall, council will open at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4 with the swearing in of the newly elected Mayor and Councilmembers.

Several resolutions will be brought forward. Council will look to amend the wage and salary schedule, adopt a snow removal and ice control operations policy and approve a contract between the State of Nebraska Department of Economic Development and the City of Wayne.

Council was awarded up to $475,000 to be used for improvements to Nebraska Street between 2nd and 7th streets. Local matching funds of 25% and 25% in leveraged funds will be provided by the City a part of the contract.

Councilmembers will take action on payment for the “2nd Street Storm Sewer Improvement Project” to Robert Woehler & Sons Construction, Inc. A change order will be for an increase which will be the final payment of $18,250.

Other appointments will be approved for the Community Redevelopment Authority, Audit Committee, Council Representative to the Police Retirement Committee and Council Representative to the Wayne Area Economic Development Board.
