Newly Elected Councilmembers To Be Sworn In, Face Coverings In Public Places To Be Addressed

WAYNE – Two long-term Wayne City Councilmembers will be recognized as newly elected members will be sworn in Tuesday evening during the regularly scheduled Wayne City Council meeting.

From the Community Room of the Wayne Community Activity Center, council will open their meeting at 5:30 p.m. before swearing in the newly elected councilmembers and then reconvene. The president of the council will be selected prior to the presentation of Dedication of Service Plaques to outgoing councilmembers Jennifer Sievers and Jon Haase.

Council will then hear more about the City of Wayne 2021 group health insurance policy with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Jon Mooberry with JEO Consulting Group, Inc. will be present to answer questions that councilmembers had from the previous meeting for accepting a bid and awarding a contract on the “Pine Heights Road & Utility Improvements Project”.

. Both the engineer and city administrator, Wes Blecke recommend awarding the contract to Myers Construction.

A pair of ordinances will next be on the agenda with one pertaining to the Community Redevelopment Authority (CRA) and another adding a section entitled “Prevention of COVID-19”. With cases of COVID-19 continuing to increase in and around Wayne along with statewide hospital capacity being tested, this ordinance would require face coverings in public places. A draft of the ordinance can be found on the website under the City Council packet and is very similar to the one passed in Norfolk in November.

Council will then take action to set their retreat.
