New, Returning Wayne State College Students Back On Campus This Weekend

WAYNE – With high school students starting their school-year up, so will a northeast Nebraska state college.

The class of 2023 and all returning students will be welcomed back to Wayne State College this weekend for the beginning of the 2019 fall semester.

According to a release from Wayne State College, the campus looks forward to helping all the new students make their transition to college life.

The WOW (Week of Welcome) begins this Friday, August 16 and will end on Monday, August 26. Throughout the weekend, first-year students will meet one another and begin exploring the opportunities and services at Wayne State College. Each adventure will allow the students to go out and meet new friends, find out more about the community of Wayne along with the faculty and staff at WSC.

The City of Wayne will see a spike in population Friday when the new students and their families are on campus for student check-in and move-in from 7 a.m. until noon. Throughout the day, students will have their class photo taken, experience group activities and evening fun. Rotating sessions will take place Saturday morning and afternoon with a concert and carnival to close out the night.

The Week of Welcome will host their closing ceremony from 1-2 p.m. in Ramsey Theatre prior to the evening picnic where all returning students will be moving in. Campus clubs and organizations along with community businesses will be on hand during the expo from 5-7 p.m. in the Kanter Student Center.

The fall of 2019 semester will then begin on Monday, August 19.
