New Norfolk Area Chamber President/CEO Announced at Banquet

NORFOLK — The Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce has its new leader.

Incoming Chairman of the Board Angie Stenger announced the hiring of Denise Wilkinson as the Chamber’s new President and CEO at the annual Chamber Banquet Thursday night.

Wilkinson comes to Norfolk from Sidney, NE where she has been President/CEO of the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce for over two years.  She says she is impressed with what Norfolk has to offer.

“Your leadership is amazing, the volunteerism, the way the city, the county, the visitors – all your organizations work together,” Wilkinson said.  “It’s exciting to be a part of such a progressive community.”

In addition to Chamber experience, Wilkinson owned and managed a family-owned retail business in Litchfield, IL for 10 years.  She also served as Tourism Coordinator and was elected as City Clerk/Treasurer in Litchfield.

Wilkinson says Norfolk already has a solid business foundation.

“You got the building, you’ve rented it out, you did your business downtown – development,” Wilkinson said.  “You’re working on your parks, your recreation to make your employees happy so we can get employees here, so our businesses all grow.”

Wilkinson replaces Mark Zimmerer who resigned in January after four years as President/CEO.  Wilkinson says she will start at her new position in May.
