Nebraskans prepare during Severe Weather Awareness Week

BEATRICE, NE (News) – Nebraskans have had more than enough experience with winter weather and flooding in recent weeks.

Now, there’s the opportunity to make sure we’re ready for spring and summer severe conditions. This is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Nebraska.

A statewide mock tornado watch and warning will be issued beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday. This will give residents, businesses and schools the chance to practice what to do and how to be ready, if severe weather approaches.

The practice exercise is being conducted in Nebraska and Iowa, ahead of the most frequent time period for tornadoes in the midwest April through June.

The practice storm watch will be issued Wednesday at 10 a.m., followed by the mock warning, at 10:15 a.m.
