WAYNE – An effort by radio and television stations across Nebraska to raise money to assist those affected by flooding kicked off at 5 o’clock this morning.
The day-long fundraising relief effort is being led by The Nebraska Broadcasters Association.
Called “NEBRASKA-STRONG” the DRIVE FOR FLOOD RELIEF, will run from now until 11 p.m. CDT this evening. Nebraskans are being asked to reach out to help their neighbors across the state who have been affected by the storm and subsequent flooding.
Dozens of Red Cross volunteers are manning special phone lines at the Omaha Steaks call center to accept donations. Those wanting to contribute to today’s drive should call 844-278-8555.
The Nebraska Broadcasters Association kicked off the drive with a $20,000 contribution this morning. Governor Ricketts has also proclaimed today as NEBRASKA-STRONG day across the State.
$436,719 was raised over an 18-hour period Friday.
All funds raised through the donation drive will go to support American Red Cross flood relief efforts in Nebraska and western Iowa.
