JACKSON, NE – It pays to be a customer with Northeast Nebraska Telephone Company (NNTC) in Jackson, NE. Roughly 4,500 current customers and 1,900 former customers of the telephone company will receive a capital credits payout in December. NNTC will pay out a total of $4.9 million.

The amount a customer receives will reflect the amount they paid for the 2009 and 2019 calendar years. Most members will see a payout, according to the company.

Customers are often surprised to find the money in their mailboxes. Since they are members during a financially profitable year, that money goes back to them.

NNTC is one of just seven telecommunications providers that operates as a cooperative. When financial standing allows, this creates the opportunity for them to pay back customers upon board approval.

This move grants money back into Northeast Nebraska, which should help stimulate its economy.

NNTC was founded in 1955. The first year NNTC paid back its cooperative members in capital credits was in 1990. Including 2020, NNTC has paid back its members to the sum of $59 million, since the first payout.
