NDOT Updates On I-129 South Sioux City, US-275 West Point

SOUTH SIOUX CITY/WEST POINT – Construction updates were provided by the Nebraska Department of Transportation for work near South Sioux City and West Point.

According to a release from NDOT, work continues for the I-129 South Sioux City project as well as motorists can expect a traffic shift on US-275 and N-9 near West Point.

In August near South Sioux City, the contractor installed guardrail surfacing and guardrails at five locations and were then open to normal traffic after Labor Day.

The contractor will then move to the final two (2) locations. These locations are the US-77 bridges and the two (2) bridges on the far west end of the project that span Lake Avenue. Work on all four (4) of these bridges will begin on the inside lanes. Traffic will flow on the outside lanes.

The US-77 bridge work began on Monday and all four (4) loops on Kingsbury interchange will be closed. The US-77 southbound to I-129 westbound ramp will also be closed. See attached detour maps.

Near West Point, northbound traffic on US-275 on the north end of West Point will be merged to one lane a block further south. Southbound traffic will be shifted right, onto temporary pavement. Traffic on N-9 will be shifted onto temporary pavement just east of the US-275 junction.

Changes are necessary for continuation of the paving operation and are anticipated to be in place for approximately two months.

Again, motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up and to put phones down.
