Municipal Codes To See Action, Application For Class D Liquor License Sought During City Council

WAYNE – The regularly scheduled Wayne City Council meeting will be on Tuesday, March 6 and feature several Municipal Code discussion.

From the City Hall, council will open at 5:30 p.m. with an action item to consider waiving the requirement of Wayne Municipal Code Sec. 150.03 Moving Buildings, (f) obtaining a certified engineer’s statement. Steve Meyer is looking to move a building from E 14th Street to his place of business on Logan Valley Drive. One of the requirements is to receive a certified engineer’s statement as Meyer stated in an email prior to the meeting the move will not damage the road and will provide more information during the meeting.

Other Wayne Municipal Codes that will looked at being amended include to prohibit parking on Thorman Street by the Wayne Veterinary Clinic as this will then bring up the discussion of amending the restricted parking from Midnight to 5 a.m. in the southeast quadrant of the City (Thorman Street).

Councilmembers will also hear another update on the Housing and LB 518 Progress. Megan Weaver, Director of Wayne Community Housing Corporation and Luke Virgil, Executive Director of Wayne Area Economic Development will both be present.

Casey’s General Store has approached the City Council and submitted an application to change their liquor license. Currently, Casey’s has a Class B (beer off sale only) and want a Class D (beer, wine, distilled spirits, off sale only) license.

Wayne City Councilmembers will also look to approve their retreat goals. The goals and discussion points were talked about among the Mayor and City Council during an annual retreat. There is no priority set to one goal besides being broken down into a one-year and five-year timeline. The list is to help direct the staff to work towards the goals of the Council.
