Motorcycle Fatality Accident With SUV Thursday, Investigation Is Ongoing

WAYNE – Several 911 calls were dispatched through the City of Wayne Call Center pertaining to an injury accident on Highway 15, near the 100 block of Main Street Thursday evening.

According to a press release from the Wayne Police Department, at approximately 10:46 p.m. officers found a vehicle and motorcycle had collided and both were engulfed in flames upon arrival. The driver of the motorcycle had been thrown from the impact of the accident as the driver of the vehicle was able to escape the flames.

The motorcycle, driven by 21 year old Mark Young III of Wayne, was heading southbound on Main Street when it collided with an SUV, driven by 19 year old Isaac Camarena Martinez of Wayne. The SUV started to enter Main Street from an alley.

Both drivers were transported to Providence Medical Center by ambulance. The driver of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The condition of the SUV driver was not reported.

This is an ongoing investigation by the Wayne Police Department along with the Nebraska State  Patrol Accident Reconstructionist. Assistance at the scene was also provided by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Providence Medical Center Ambulance and the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department.
