Monday’s Guest Saxophone Recital Makes Way For Under The Stars V, WSC Hosts A Pair Of Concert Experiences

WAYNE – If you missed out on the Guest Saxophone Recital Monday night, plan on attending two other live performances later this week put on by the Black Box Trio.

According to a release from Wayne State College, Under the Stars V will captivate the audience with live chamber music synced to a custom-designed planetarium show by Dr. Todd Young. The Black Box Trio performances will be held in the Fred G. Dale Planetarium located in the lowest level of the Carhart Science Building on Thursday and Friday, March 15-16 at 7:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

Visual animation is enhanced through creative collaboration with the Black Box Trio. Trio members include WSC faculty Kathi Angeroth, violin; Dr. Karl Kolbeck, clarinet and Shelly Armstrong, piano. Seating is limited so you’ll want to arrive early for this event.

A Wayne State College alum, Lincoln Havranek took to the stage in Ley Theatre Monday night. He performs solo and in ensembles while also being the recipient of several music awards. Havranek currently teaches at the Harris Academy of the Arts as he is working toward his Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Nebraska. Havranek also received his Masters of Music Degree at the University of South Dakota and obtained his Bachelors of Arts Degree at Wayne State College.
