Mobile Food Pantry To Visit Our Savior Saturday

WAYNE – The Omaha food bank truck delivery is scheduled to visit Wayne this Saturday with food distribution at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Our Savior Lutheran Church is located on the corner of fifth and Main Street and will host the Wayne Food Truck on Saturday, July 27.

A message from the Methodist Church for those wishing to get food from the food truck need to be at Our Savior by 9:30 a.m. to assure they get food.There are jobs for people of all physical abilities as this is a great opportunity to help others in the community.

Volunteers are also needed for the following activities:

  • 8:30 – 9 a.m.: room setup, stack folding chairs and set up tables
  • 9 – 10 a.m.: unload food truck and arrange food on tables
  • 10 – 11:30 a.m.: distribute food, help clients load food in their vehicles then clean up and put room back to original arrangement

According to the social media account earlier this week, the pantry currently needs instant potatoes, soup, cake and brownie mixes along with peanut butter and jelly.

The Wayne food pantry can be found inside First Presbyterian Church, located at 216 West 3rd Street. When the food truck is not in town, other non-perishable food items may be picked up/dropped off at First Presbyterian Church or donations can be left at either Pac N Save or Quality Foods in Wayne.

Those eligible to be served must be a resident of Wayne County, must have a photo ID, provide proof of address in Wayne County and will receive food up to three times each year.
