Mike Flood To Announce Major Endorsement Early Tuesday Afternoon

NORFOLK, NE – State Senator and Republican candidate for Congress Mike Flood will announce what his campaign is calling a MAJOR endorsement at 1:00 PM CDT Tuesday in the rotunda of the Nebraska State Capitol.

Flood had already announced that he was a candidate in the Republican primary May 10th when First District Congressman Jeff Fortenberry was indicted for lying to federal investigators about a campaign contribution. But Fortenberry’s conviction on the charges  set up a special election scenario when Fortenberry resigned his office last Thursday.

The Executive Committee of the Nebraska Republican Party is slated to meet this Saturday to nominate a candidate to run in the June 28th special election. Flood has indicated an interest in being that candidate. If elected, he would serve out the current term until  January. But in order to continue to hold the seat, Flood would have to also first win the May 10th primary and then the November 8th general election.

One can speculate about where Tuesday’s MAJOR endorsement might come from but it will need to be substantial to top those that Flood has already lined up – including a sitting Governor and a former Governor, Dr. Tom Osborne, the Nebraska Sheriff’s Association, and the NRA.
